thirteen years of experience as a teacher and school administrator, Sonny
Clardy has a relevant view of American education and the daily challenges
facing our schools, children, youth, parents, and communities. Sonny has served the students, teachers and parents of Horry County Schools for seven years as a teacher, a principal and a friend. For three of Sonny’s seven years of service as a teacher, he was recognized at the school level as "Teacher Of The Year." In 1990 he was also awarded second runner-up as Horry County Schools "Teacher Of The Year." Sonny has also been involved at the district level where he served as an "Exemplary Teacher On Loan" as "Facilitator For Strategic Planning," where he became actively involved in district and state initiatives for school improvement and innovation. Professional and personal growth provided Sonny the opportunity to move into school administration, where he became a principal for a public school in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Sonny’s strong leadership and persevering personality brought high accolades to the school, which in 1999, was recommended to the U.S. Department of Education as a "New American High School" by the Southern Region Education Board. Sonny soon felt a calling in his heart to leave his position as principal and take his message of hope and promise to America’s schools throughout the country. Since being on the road, Sonny has reached thousands of people and has changed the future for many who have heard his message. He has traveled thousands of miles throughout his home state of South Carolina, as far north as Pennsylvania, as far south as Louisiana and is presently expanding into mid-west states, spreading “LifeBlueprints” to each boy, girl, man and woman he passes along the way. |
